Math

1 + 1 = 2

Let’s start with 0

Here in my hand i have nothing, also known as the set of 0 things

Now here is a thing that I place in this hand, which is more than I had before, so this is the set of 1 thing

If I move it to this other hand, I still have the set of 1 thing, now in this other hand

Even if I were to bring both hands together, it is the same thing in both hands, I have the set of 1 thing

But now here is another thing, in this hand, which is different than the other thing

In this other hand, this other thing is still a set of 1 thing

However, if I put both things into one hand, I have more than i ever had before in one hand. This is the set of 2 things

Therefore by putting 1 thing in one hand, followed by another thing in the same hand, I have now have 2 things.

Therefore 1 + 1 = 2
